Organisation of OSC business

Commissioners review all Property Interference and Intrusive Surveillance authorisations, and renewals or cancellations required to be submitted to them.

An appeal against a Commissioner's decision to quash an authorisation lies to the Chief Commissioner.

Police forces and other key law enforcement authorities are inspected by OSC Inspectors (managed by the Chief Surveillance Inspector) with follow up by Commissioners. Assistant Commissioners and OSC Inspectors inspect other public authorities.

The Secretary is responsible to the Chief Commissioner for the effective and efficient management of the OSC.

More detail on each of these roles can be found in the How We Work section of this website.
